I'd recommend @Everything and just having a customized repository. I've kind of done the opposite (added a bunch of rpm's), but I think that's your best bet. Once you've removed all the RPM's you don't want instaled from the media (nfs share, ftp server, http server whatever) modify this script to suit your needs, and run it: #!/bin/sh # # Run this script to update the hdlists in the updated_release # directory. # # Joey <joem@xxxxxx> export PYTHONPATH=/usr/lib/anaconda BASE=/home/install/redhat/9/updated_release cd $BASE /usr/lib/anaconda-runtime/genhdlist /usr/lib/anaconda-runtime/pkgorder $BASE i386 > $BASE/pkgorder.txt /usr/lib/anaconda-runtime/buildinstall --comp dist-9 --pkgorder $BASE/pkgorder.txt --version .01 --release "Custom" $BASE That should probably work for you.
