I believe you'll find that there is no e1000 driver in the
bootnet.img/initrd.img/modules.cgz.  

Assuming by "normal install" you mean via CDROM, the e1000 driver is
probably in the stage2.img.  However, you need the e1000 module long before
that to do an NFS install.

You'll need to wedge the e1000 into the modules.cgz, appropriately modify
modules-conf and pcitable, all in the initrd.img.  I had to pull out a few
drivers to make room.

If only one PC is connected you might want to "spantree portfast enable " on
that specific port - the normal way the switch works it sees the link comes
up, and then waits 30 seconds before any traffic is allowed. You can avoid
that by setting portfast on the specific port.
