I believe you'll find that there is no e1000 driver in the bootnet.img/initrd.img/modules.cgz. Assuming by "normal install" you mean via CDROM, the e1000 driver is probably in the stage2.img. However, you need the e1000 module long before that to do an NFS install. You'll need to wedge the e1000 into the modules.cgz, appropriately modify modules-conf and pcitable, all in the initrd.img. You can avoid that by setting portfast on the specific port.
