Hello all, here's a question from a linux amateur. I'm trying an nfs install of redhat 7.3, and my ks.cfg file is on an nfs drive on one of my servers. I created a boot disk, and modified the syslinux.cfg file as shown below. I boot up the machine and type "ks=nfs:myserver.com:/rh/ks.cfg" at the prompt. Everything seems to go well, loading initrd.img and vmlinuz, then lots of messages, ending with: Mounting /proc filesystem mount error 22, pivot root failed:2 kernel panic: no init found, try passing init= option to kernel Then everything stops. Here's my syslinux.cfg file from the boot floppy: prompt 1 display boot.msg timeout 1000 label linux kernel vmlinuz ks=nfs:myserver.com:/rh/ks.cfg append initrd=initrd.img Lots of questions: where exactly in the boot process is my maching hanging? What do I need to change in my syslinux file, or do I need to type something different at the prompt? At the point where I get the kernel panic, had the machine expected something from the dhcp/bootp server? Am I even getting that far? Many thanks, Drew Austin, TX
