When I was faced with two Realtek NICs, I put the cable in the one that the installer wanted to use. If you want to be stubborn about it, you may have to modify Anaconda so that if a NIC doesn't configure when using DHCP it tries the next. However, I don't know how to force Linux to configure a specific card when you have two the same. In Linux you can use such a configuration; I recall problems in OS/2 when vendor-shipped drivers couldn't handle a second NIC at all. I recommend against such configurations if it is important to be able to distinguish between them. I don't have many multi-homed boxes, and I only recall the one (dumped on me by a client) with two the same.
