Hi John,

Thanks for the info,

I tried to use the bootnet.img file copied to a diskette and I still got the same error message.  The only difference is that after the error message, I get prompted for the type of install and if I choose nfs, it prompted me for the server and directory.  After I put in the info, I got a message telling me that it couldn't mount the specified directory.

I tried to mount the directory on another RH box and it works fine.

also I'm not quite sure I understand what you mean by:
edit the configuration (ks default, short pause)
can you please be more specific ?

Pls advise

Farry

Hi list

I'm a newbie with the kickstart install. I setup a NSF server and a
DHCP server. Then I created the ks.cfg file with the kickstart gui.

The NFS directory that I'm exporting is /home/farryp/setup. I copied
the ks.cfg file in the directory.

Then I put in the boot cd and at the boot prompt, I typed:

                     boot: linux nfs=192.168.1.3:/home/farryp/setup/ks.cfg

Then I got the error message
Error opening: Kickstart file /tmp/ks.cfg: No such file
or directory

I tried the same thig with a boot diskette. No luck same error

NFS and DHCP are tested and are running. Am I sending the right command
to the kernel ?

pls advise

You must use the bootnet.img image copied to floppy. I generally copy
the file, edit the configuration (ks default, short pause) and use the modified version.

Getting the ks file from the server is a fine idea.
