RE: how to specify a static ip at prompt

You can do that, or you can specify it on the boot line as ksip=1.2.3.4

In either case, you will need to extract it from /proc/cmdline in you
post install script. Your post install script can then use this to rewrite
the network configuration. I am using this to set hostname, IP and similar
information without hard coding it in kickstart.

Subject: how to specify a static ip at prompt

well the ks.cfg file is on an nfs server
i don't want to use a dhcp server, is there a way i could specify a
static ip?
is it possible to do an equivalent as:
ks=nfs:1.2.3.4:/export/7.1/ks.cfg ksdevice=eth1  ksip=1.2.3.5
