You may think i'm mad but some of us do this for fun :-) and some of us
are content with a life that has enough money to pay for the bits, don't
know if i fancy earning loads of money, just enjoy the work, that's why
i'm freelance as it where get to meet lot's of people with different
requirements and something that needs to be done.

Anyway, back to kickstart I have not done that many installs, if you look
at the response you will see that it only mentions 9 companies, and that
was about 12 different builds in all. Also no offence but I did not do the
install kickstart did :-)

Smile have fun it's all a joke in the end,

agreed there are issues, but that's not supprising in an evolving entity

all I will say is, as is always the case there are users and there are
hackers
i'm both,

So as a user (and in answer to your statement below):

Start Gnome and using the menu find an application called "kickstart
configurator"
and take away the trouble of worrying if

> --nisdomain <domain name>
> --ldapserver=<ldap server name>

Just add your preferences and you are there. Most of the options for people
who only want to turn out a fast working kickstart are there.

As an SI / SA (and as a question to anyone out there):

Whats the issue ? check the format in the ks.cfg output from
"kickstart configurator" it looks cool,

ldap if your using it be aware that your actually using an ldap call to
a dap server, preferably x.500, anyone using openldap for this ? am having
a crack at bulding the entire servers from one basedn call,
have hacked ssh and login to get them to query at login. anyone interested ?

By the way, if time is not on your side then learn to code faster :-)

This sounds like a rant to pat him/herself on the back. I'm glad you
have done that many installs, I bet you made alot of money. But you have
to realize most people do not want to rewrite a software installation
program in order to get it working. People(sysadmins) want features that
will get the job done, they don't want to have to sit there and figure out
why the installer program is giving a python error or any other error.

The power of linux is its ability to be fixed or features added by just
writing code, but to the general population of sys admins, time is not on
their side.
