I am getting this same error on a older laptop, HP Omnibook 4100, and was wondering if you have gotten around the problem. I have tried upgrading from 7.0 to 7.1, as well as, a fresh install of 7.1 wiping everything off the drive (reformating and repartitioning). I continue to get this python: header.c: 511: headerLoad: Assertion `rdlen == dl` failed. If I change the installation to not include GNOME, I get a slighty different message but still a python Assertion. Please let me know if you got around this problem and what you did.
