Did you ever get this problem resolved? I have run into the same problem installing on an HP Omnibook 4100 laptop. I get the same error if I try to upgrade from 7.0 or if I do a fresh install of 7.1. If I change the installation options (e.g. de-select GNOME) then I recieve a similar error message about an assertion failed in the python header, but it's at a different location. I would really like to get this laptop onto 7.1, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks Bill Tarket
