What about just enabling NIS in the post section?
/usr/sbin/auth with the above options should set up the same
as in kickstart.

Or use a script that is run on the first boot, after NIS is
up and running. The delete the script and what ever called it.

a line at the end of /etc/rc.d/rc.local would probably work
to call the script.
