There it stops and wants interactive input > (i have to partition the disk manually) That's true to a certain extent... libfdisk doesn't handle surprises very well and if it's in doubt, it'll ask. The times when you get a request for user input will be if there's something funky at the start of the hdd (ie, it used to be part of a hw RAID array) or if there's non-ext2 partitions on the disk. I'd suggest running fdisk and making sure everything's been cleared off the drive. > but then the kickstart installer > crashes... What is it choking on?? Use the debug option to see what's up.... also, knowing what step it's trying to run would be helpful. Check out the output on <alt><F3> and the kernel messages on <alt><F4>. Also, use the rescue shell on <alt><F2> to see if the aic7xxx module is loaded and see if you can get to the hard disks.
