[ANNOUNCE] Func & Certmaster 0.20

Hello everyone,

We are pleased to announce the release of Func 0.20 and Certmaster 0.20.

Source RPMs and tarballs are now available here:

http://people.fedoraproject.org/~mdehaan/files/certmaster/
http://people.fedoraproject.org/~mdehaan/files/func/

Note that we have them built for Fedora/EPEL repos, but are holding off on pushing them until we can get in a bit of testing from folks like you, so if people would like to give them a quick run through, that would be outstanding -- then we'll see about pushing them to the mirrors.

This Func release contains, among other things:

* numerous bugfixes
* Krzysztof A. Adamski's work in cleaning up the async codebase, as well as adding in a "--async" options to the "call" command to make it usable via the command line. He's also added some nice things to make --nforks work better, and Func's memory leaks are now closed! This is very good to see and has helped harden up Func considerably. * Denis Kurov's work for FuncWeb. FuncWeb is getting to be a lot more usable and is looking shiny. Note that this is not packaged and configured, so you'll need to run that from the source checkout. This work also allows for modules to be queried remotely for information about the types of their arguments, allowing remote interfaces like WUI's (in the case of FuncWeb) or even TUI's to be built without having to write code for each module.
* an iptables module (also from KA)
* new module features and fixes
* other stuff I forgot :)

This certmaster release contains, among other things:
* numerous bugfixes
* Steve Salesvan's patch to add triggers to certmaster, so one can be notified by email (among other things) of when new CSRs are made * the recent patch from Tanabe Ken-ichi to allow Func to use puppet certs (we'd still really like to see a patch to Puppet to let it use certmaster certs -- as certmaster is indended to be an application-agnostic cert system).
* other stuff I forgot :)

All of these items are new, so please test away, and report what you'll find. We're very capable of doing quick maintaince releases on these items and are aiming to have shorter release intervals now. We should also be releasing more often in general to give people more access to new developments. Much thanks to everyone who contributed patches, and if I've left you off in the highlights, I apologize.

In the future, Func is what you want it to be. If you have any questions, ideas, or other comments, please share them. We'll continue going down the route established by the two GSOC projects, as well as be enhancing Func based on items in Trac (https://fedorahosted.org/func). If you want an acccount to use Trac or edit the Wiki, you can get one at https://admin.fedoraproject.org/accounts. Also feel free to add documentation to the Wiki where you see it's lacking, or share the useful scripts and API examples you might have made with Func. This is also doable using your Fedora/Trac account.

Thanks!

--Michael
