Noticed recently that my NTFS data partitions are getting mounted on booting. They are not in fstab.

Is there a flag that causes the automount?

Would really like the mount to be on demand.

If you are running KDE, check in System->Connected Devices->Disks & Cameras-> Device Auto-Mount and see if those partitions are ticked in there for auto-mount "On Login" or "On Attach".

kde died with wayland stiil not coperating with NVIDIA. Running XFCE and LXDE. KDE-SYSTEM-SETTINGS>Connected Devices->Disks & Cameras shows a list of attached devices with no boxes checked

You broke your quoting...

The KDE settings are not relevant if you aren't running KDE. You need to find the equivalent settings for whatever DE you're using.
