Odds are that your horribly broken system also has uninstalled some parts of bash-completion or upgraded others. Spending time trying to work out exactly how your system is FUBAR is a fools errand. You should restore from backups or backup your data and reinstall your system. There is no other reasonable course of action. -- Todd
