It *used* to be possible to boot in a step-by-step mode, where it paused at each section, and you'd press a key to continue. And I remember some systems pressing the pause key, or scroll-lock, did something similar. Neither work on my current systems. > 2. correct or wrong: > Not all messages displayed on the monitor during the boot process, > before log-in becomes available, are stored in /var/log/boot.log* > files. I think that some may be omitted. Mine seems to just start logging when booting gets to the OK/FAIL sections of starting services. Also look at dmesg (it's a command, and logfiles in /var/log/dmesg). > 3. People mayn't care if you post them with the colour codes in them. They can even save the logs as temporary files, and view them with the colours as colours. Alternatively, you can copy and paste them through a reader app, or pass them through ansi2txt or ansifilter programs, to filter things down to plain text. -- uname -rsvp Linux 3.10.0-1160.119.1.el7.x86_64 #1 SMP Tue Jun 4 14:43:51 UTC 2024 x86_64 Boilerplate: All unexpected mail to my mailbox is automatically deleted.
