I haven't run into that yet. As in the current situation, I first hold off patching until I hear that the problem is fixed. But it's good to know what you suggest should a problem drag out. Thank-you Tim.
The installonly limit affects *any* package that installs alongside previous installs, rather than as an upgrade that replaces it (how most updated program packages are handled). It doesn't only affect kernel installations.
