That way if there's a flurry of kernel updates (which has happened in the past) and one or more of them cause me a problem, I'll still have an older one to rely on. The installonly limit affects *any* package that installs alongside previous installs, rather than as an upgrade that replaces it (how most updated program packages are handled).
