Well, the whole page is dynamically generated. It's more accurate and
meaningful to say that the commit message and commit ID (the revision)
come from the API, which you can query with curl and jq.
Oh ya. No fooling. The way OI am getting the revison of
the program is the worst way of doing it.
And I have no choice:
Spice Guest Tools Downloads are not versioned
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/spice/win32/spice-nsis/-/issues/6
These are both the same binary:
https://www.spice-space.org/download/windows/spice-guest-tools/spice-guest-tools-0.141/spice-guest-tools-0.141.exe
https://www.spice-space.org/download/windows/spice-guest-tools/spice-guest-tools-latest.exe
So the number you are getting from scraping the commit
message (the harder way) isn't even accurate as far as I can
tell.
It seems like you're asking for help solving the wrong
problem (or, at least, a harder problem than necessary).
And even when folks suggest better ways to solve that
problem --using a proper API or calling git directly--
you're still doing it the more fragile way in the end.
I'd be inclined to suggest taking a step back and try to
describe the actual end goal and determine if the problem
you're trying to solve is even the right one to solve. :)
Whether that ends up being something relevant to this list
or not, I don't know.
Ya, back to the drawing board.
