The memory test is supposed to tell you how fast memory can be accessed. According to sysbench, my older laptop (dual core cpu with hyperthreading) gets about 4763.85 MiB/sec with a single thread, 6747.50 MiB/sec with two threads, and 10100.02 MiB/sec with four threads. Those numbers seem somewhat suspect to me, but possible depending on how the CPU and memory buses are designed. The cpu test numbers are usually completely arbitrary and only have meaning for comparing against other systems. The numbers will also vary depending on what else is currently running.

There's a --threads=n parameter for setting the number of threads it uses.
