Re: rescue mode needs rescuing! [SOLVED]

I did my weekly patches this morning.  As Samuel predicted early in this thread, if I deleted the 2 *rescue* files from /boot, the rescue would be re-built the next time the OS was patched.  That happened.  I can boot into it successfully.  I do understand that's not what I'm wanting anyway.

The f30 live image that I created on a USB stick last week has been destroyed.

I now have a good f31 live image on a USB stick.

I also now have a good f31 rescue option within the f31 net install on a USB stick.  (I'm not sure of the terminology.)

I also now have memory test ability.

The tower and everything in it is quite clean.

Everything seems to be working well.

No, that's the GPU temperature.  I'm wanting the temperature in the Intel Core i7.

Yes, but I've now abandoned f30 live.

I was looking for a rescue boot in case my upgrade to f31 (planned for mid April) has problems, or in case of other serious problems preventing normal booting, login, or operation from the hard drive.  I'm trying to plan ahead and be prepared. I've been convinced to use the rescue option that's in the net install that you and Samuel pointed me to.

I'm not.  I would think that all 4 cores were executing very tight loops for about 1 hour.

After seeing your post, I found a simple command line command "sensors".  That gave me what I wanted.

Not likely the root cause.  The lock-ups happened only during f30 live sessions, never during memory testing.

Room temperature (varies between 65 Fahrenheit and 75 Fahrenheit).

Well, the objective of this thread is met with the f31 live USB stick and the f31 net install live USB.  So I've tagged this thread SOLVED.

My theory on the lock-ups and hot CPU:
In the f30 live sesion, in Firefox, I look at the HYPERKITTY display for this thread.
I tawt I taw a puddy tat!
I did!
I did!
I did see a puddy tat!
It's the kitty cat in Ed's avatar!
Viewing that darn cat in HYPERKITTY!
That's what done it!
(just kidding)
