Yes, I am familiar with this file, it's supposed to replace the Display
Sections in /etc/xorg.conf. I have nonetheless been unsuccessful in
opening a gnome-terminal on the secondary screen. Apparently the --
geometry command line parameter does not function under Wayland.
I didn't know you were using wayland - so I'm not sure xrandr,
mentioned below, will help you then: but maybe there's an option at
your login screen to choose either wayland or xorg: if yes, I'd try to
login via xorg, then run xrandr.

If all that does not work, xrandr might be your friend to set up your
monitors - but Im not sure, that's what Linux users today might like
to fiddle with ... ;)
Thanks for mentioning xrandr, maybe one day it will be of use. However,
I don't see any connection between xrandr and the GDM login prompt. I
think I'll have to try one of the Gnome mailing lists.
