I heard o a you tube video about a file sharing technique
called gfs.  I may has misunderstood the letters as I
have trouble with high frequency hearing.

Is there other alternatives out there for cross platform
file sharing other than Samba?   (I know about NFS.)

Are you thinking of gfs(2)?  AKA "Global File System"?

Thank you!

Yes, that sure sound like it.

I can't see where that would be a replacement Samba.

It isn't.

Thank you. Boy did I ever hear wrong!

I will stick with ext4. I have used XFS, but
