If it is on > the local host you can use 127.0.0.1 I did this, and it shows up in the connection info, and NetworkManager writes /etc/resolv.conf as nameserver 127.0.0.1 and systemctl shows named.service active and running and iftop shows queries going to 1.1.1.1 and 9.9.9.9, the forwarders, but any name resolution times out.
