Plus, as a caveat: if one really wants to save even a little more
power one could try to park the HD heads as often as possible, e.g. by
issuing very aggressive "hdparm -B" settings. But careful: that might
wear down some disks very fast, as they seem to have usually only a
limited "Load_Cycle_Count" (can be seen via "smartctl -a /dev/sdX") -
The maximum cycle count might be found in the disk specs.
I lost a disk once after only a little more than ~2.5 yrs - probably
due to power management settings. And to avoid that - on a computer
that isn't moving - I try to turn it off completely now:
"hdparm -B 255". Can also be set e.g. with "gnome-disks, drive
settings". Done with "gnome-disks" the settings even might survive
reboots ..
