I have an older AMD Phenom II motherboard with a new HD6450 to replace an older card that failed. While video works fine with this new card, it somehow causes the ethernet to fail. I've tried the card in the two different x4 slots that are available, and it doesn't make a difference.
When you take the video card out, it works again?
This is an onboard ethernet controller that was otherwise working fine. There's just no link light, and while I can configure it manually with ifconfig, it never detects a link.
If there's no link light, that suggest a hardware level problem because those lights are not under software control.
