You may also want to activate the Magic Sysrq key (https://aplawrence.com/Words2005/2005_04_13.html) just to be safe. And, be sure you test it before you need it. I once had a keyboard that only sent the proper keycode if the right Alt key was used, not the left. If that doesn't work your system's either really badly hung (possibly with interrupts disabled) or completely halted. FYI, one of the recommended commands is Sync, so you don't have to worry about it.
