Folks, shortly after F28 was released I upgraded one of my systems to F28 using fedup. Since that day, despite all the updates I have installed, I still cannot run the MATE desktop on that system. Before the upgrade, when the system ran F27, I ran MATE without any problems. Now as soon as I login I get a screen that is completely messed up :-(. However, if instead of the MATE desktop I select the Gnome Classic desktop, it appears just fine and I can use it. This problem with F28 and MATE does not affect just this one system, I upgraded a second system and created to F28 VMs, one under VirtualBox and one under VMware. Of these 4 F28 systems, the only one that is usable with the MATE desktop is the VM under VirtualBox. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing the problem? As I said this worked fine under F27. I am reluctant to upgrade my 2 primary systems until this issue is resolved.
