Hot components need a large enough heatsink to dissipate their heat, and it needs to be firmly attached, with heatsink compound filling the tiny gap between chip and heatsink. Heatsinks need to have a fan, or other heat distribution scheme, to make the heat radiate away sufficiently, and quickly enough. The case needs to have airflow that brings in fresh air, and expels hot air (running a case with the cover off can prevent adequate airflow *across* things, likewise with other obstacles in the case).
