FWIW, from the man page.... -a, --archive archive mode; equals -rlptgoD (no -H,-A,-X) so including r in the parameter list is redundant. My nightly backup uses.... rsync -avz --delete --exclude=*Videos* (a bunch of other excludes) /home/egreshko /syntegra/backups -- Conjecture is just a conclusion based on incomplete information. It isn't a fact.
