I was going to logout anyway so doing a reboot didn't take all that much more time. And, now that I think about it, I probably didn't have to do an "init 6". I probably could have logged out with the obscure command. qdbus org.kde.ksmserver /KSMServer logout 0 3 3 -- Conjecture is just a conclusion based on incomplete information. It isn't a fact.
