As I've said before, that is the resolution your monitor is designed to provide the
best performance.

I would not concentrate on picking the best looking fonts.  I have a Samsung TV that
I could hook up to HDMI.  If I can only find the mini-HDMI cable that would connect
to my laptop.  I have never used a TV as a monitor so I don't know how well suited
they are for this purpose.

I have 2 ASUS monitors that operate at 2560x1440 and the fonts are crisp and clear.
