Yet, I cd $HOME/.thunderbird/
and I see the directory of my profile there.
I browse the directory, and all the files and dirs are there.
I know it's a long shot, but what are the permissions?
On directories: rwx------
On files: rw-------
It's a good point. I did find other people reporting
the same problem, but the explanations for the problem
were not only inadequate, but also not applicable, as
there was no other process of TB running.
OK, at least we know that your directories and files aren't read only,
so we cross that possibility off. And, I presume that you own them
because I'd have expected you to mention it if you didn't. That's what
I expected, but I didn't want us to spend days trying to work out what's
wrong only to find that it was something easy like this. Good.
As I told a caller once when I was doing tech support, "Much of
troubleshooting consists of going down one blind ally after another
until one of them isn't."
