Some possibilities: Your configuration is allowing a lot of third party communication to slow down page loading. Typically pages load ads before content, and if those ads are delayed, the content looks like it is slow to deliver. A neat trick to use is ad nauseum instead of an ad blocker. Your ISP is rationing bandwidth.
