In recent months there has been a fair bit of work to improve gaming under KDE Plasma. Many people prefer automatic transmissions, but others prefer a floor-mounted manual transmission. Fewer, but still a noticeable number, prefer a manual transmission in a four-wheel-drive pickup. And, if one looks in the right places, I suspect there are still a few three-speed shifters mounted on steering columns. Sometimes it's necessity, but most often it's just habit formed into preference, as is often the case with languages.
