Re: Auto suspend stopped working on my workstation

OK, here's my info

kernel - 4.8.14-300.fc25.x86_64

Mate - mate-session-manager.x86_64 1.16.0-1.fc25

When I run gnome-tweak-tool I get:

[pgaltieri@terrapin ~]$ gnome-tweak-tool
WARNING : Shell not installed or running
WARNING : Shell not running
None
WARNING : Error detecting shell
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/gtweak/tweaks/tweak_group_shell_extensions.py", line 275, in __init__
raise Exception("Shell not running or DBus service not available")
Exception: Shell not running or DBus service not available

This is probably due to the fact that I'm running Mate and not Gnome Shell.

Under the Power section there is the text "When Laptop Lid is Closed". Below this it says "Don't suspend on lid close". There is a slider switch to right of this, but it doesn't tell me what the current state is. The switch is set to the left which I assume means it is in the off position and therefore on lid close the system should suspend.

I have a similar issue. I'm running F25 with latest updates and I'm
using the Mate desktop.
Please be specific when asking for help such as the kernel version and
version numbers of things you think might be related (in your case,
the MATE version, Wayland or Xorg, etc.) "Latest updates" doesn't mean
much when updates are released as often as they are. Your "latest" may
not be the same as my "latest" unless we did it at exactly the same
time and from the same mirrors.

Recently the mate-screensaver has failed to run
after the system has been idle for 5 minutes. It does run if I lock the
screen manually. Also the screen is supposed to blank after 5 minutes,
but this doesn't happen neither automatically nor when I manually lock
the screen.
I'm an Xfce user, but check your desktop settings and verify that
the screen saver and idle settings are what you think they are. There
has been a number of issues with default settings being changed or not
meaning the same thing with some recent packages (for example, mouse
settings under vim). Also check the logs for messages relating to this
for clues.

It happened a few weeks ago, so I don't recall what updates might be
involved, but my workstation used to suspend itself after some minutes
of inactivity. Then after some update (a kernel was involved, I
believe, in case that might matter), it seems to have stopped. Even
auto screen blanking doesn't work now. The settings haven't changed.

How to troubleshoot?
Well you could start by mentioning your version of Fedora and what
kernel you have. Otherwise it's hard to see how anyone can help you.
