Either consider yourself to be an expert on this topic, or you would need
to consult an expert first. What about fixation, finalization and
multi-session recording? What about TAO/DAO/SAO modes? What about writing
speed, media detection and power calibration? Everything done
automatically by the hardware, possibly reset to defaults whenever the
device driver opens the device for writing? What defaults would that be?
