Hmm, sounds like a mis-use of the do-not-track flag by bugzilla. I've
always considered that to be a "do not database me" me notice, not a
session management thing.

Though I am in two minds as to whether closing a tab or quitting a
browser ought to be equally treated as the user has ended the session,
and should be treated as logged out.

I like to think that exiting a site either way means that I have
finished using it (and can think of countless annoyances where I've
noticed that I'm logged into third party sites because I've logged into
somewhere else).

On the other hand, there's benefit in not disconnecting the user unless
they actually use a log-off function. You might be consulting a service
on and off in a session, but don't actually want to keep a browser tab
or window continually open.

It gets harder and harder to stop services abusing your privacy, when
they keep doing things that make you drop your guard all the time (if
you want to use us, you must accept cookies, allow scripting, etc., even
though they're actually unnecessary requirements for the task in hand).

a set of instructions for supposedly democratic governments.
