This is a wild guess, but it may have something to do with the keymap. As someone else mentioned, I believe the default is "numlock enabled", but if you're using a keyboard (or keymap) that doesn't have a numeric pad, that default may not mean anything so numlock is NOT enabled. Weird, but there's a LOT of stuff in Gnome that's weird (which is one reason I do not use it).
I mentioned about the default. On desktops, numlock defaults to on, but on laptops, possibly depending on whether or not there is a separate number pad, the default is off. I'm pretty sure it's not specific to Gnome. On my laptop, the numlock being on would mean I would have to turn it off to be able to use the laptop normally.
On a side note, the dollar store here is selling usb number pads for $3. :-) -- users mailing list users@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe or change subscription options: http://lists.fedoraproject.org/admin/lists/users@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Fedora Code of Conduct: http://fedoraproject.org/code-of-conduct Guidelines: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines Have a question?
