Does that mean pressing the button really hard?  ;-)  Shirley, you don't

Okay, back to being serious.  One thing to ask is does the camera have
two or distinctive modes for taking pictures, viewing pictures, or PC
mode (as in Personal Computer), and are you in the right mode?

Also, I've found some annoying devices that need plugging into the USB
after they've been turned on, not before.  And replugging if you turn
them off.  Which is seriously annoying thing to have to do, especially
on equipment that powers off when it gets bored for a few minutes.  Not
to mention wears out the connectors abnormally faster.
