I don't use package-kit, so I can't help with that. However, it's
probably a good idea to open a terminal and run this:
yum check-update
to find out what the status really is. And, if there are updates and
you don't like the all-or-nothing way yum works, consider yumex, as it
allows you to ignore any updates that you have reason to distrust, or
otherwise don't want to bother with.
