Something tells me that wouldn't help.  WiFi seems to work well with
quite weak signals, so boosting them when your nearish to the access
point doesn't make a great deal of difference.  And, it's a two-way
thing, messing with things in one direction only handles half the
problem.

You're probably in a bad spot, reception wise.  Or the transmitter may
be congested by lots of clients, or on the same channel as other nearby
access points, and making a mess of the RF.
