If you wish to temporarily start a program under a new group you can
call "newgrp" to create a new terminal session to do so.
Thanks! Did a "man newgrp" to learn a little about it and gave it a
try. "wireshark &" from that terminal window is accessing the
interfaces. So I can use this as a workaround until the next login.
