Maybe duplicate the failing PV on to a new disk.  Add that to the LV,
and remove the failing one.  The OP will have to make sure the details
of this last step; all references of the old PV should be replaced with
the new PV (maybe all that is required is to change the UUID).

I would use ddrescue for the duplication.  I once recovered a failing
single disk LV with it.
