I did in fact reinstall (for some reason this mail was stuck for a day), and the re-installed printer is now working fine again, but has the exact same ppd file it did before I recreated it, so I have no idea what changed. I also got an error popup from system-config-printer about not being able to find a driver (with a yellow warning triangle), but a while later, it let me finish installing the printer and everything worked.
