Today I upgraded F17 and with new kernel 
Linux tikal 3.8.3-103.fc17.x86_64 #1 SMP Mon Mar 18 15:46:01 UTC 2013 x86_64
x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

now video card is working fine
lspci | grep VGA
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc NI Seymour [AMD Radeon
HD 6470M]

using fedup now I will be brought back to 3.7 or I will be on 3.8?
3.7 does not support this video card
