Thanks for the tip, unfortunately it didn't help. I've tried previous kernel as well, all 4 combinations of the kernel and iwl4965-firmware, and now also latest kernel-3.7.6-201.fc18.x86_64.

Try
yum downgrade iwl4965-firmware
and see if the problem clears
