Does /var/log/pm-suspend.log say something useful (unlikely, but you never know). Maybe compare what you see in it when resume works and when it doesn't. That may give you a clue. Also: is this Sleep supposed to be suspend or hibernate? You could try the other and see if it works (and is good enough for you). FWIW suspend works on my F18 eee pc 701, so your problem may have something to do with hardware and/or some module that has trouble waking up. I'm sorry I can't give you any real help!
