So somehow I missed your question / problem about trying to install the Mate Desktop onto Fedora 17 inserted into a thread about "A Look at Fedora 18"?? I don't recall Mate being available for Fedora 18 as I described. I do know that with a little skill and abilities it could be added to Fedora 17. Perhaps you should update Fedora 18?
