And how much time did it take you to find out the weird things that are
required to stop Windows self destructing...?  Many of the Windows
tricks are undecipherable.  There's no logic to what you're doing, just
doing a list of things people told you to do, no way you could have
figured it out without playing pure guessing games.

If you can manage to jump through all the hoops that Windows makes you
(while they're covered in gasoline and on fire, I might add), then you
should be more than capable of managing another computer system that
actually works in a sensible manner.
