people are working all the day with the shell learning
such things by get hurted and will suggest correct
commands, at leat it is your choice to gamble :-)

I thought a bit more about the "shell" issue and realized that it has blocked me from seeing that slash as anything but a directory "/". Played around with "yum list" and found a package (selinux) that I could test, see the results, and understand.
